MIASINO A PLACE TO DISCOVER

The Town of Miasino, located 479 meters above sea level, is built on the eastern bank of the Lago d’Orta, and extends over a surface of 5.48 square kilometres.

The administrative centre, Miasino (formerly called Milliacinii), is located on a green flat plane between the Motta di Carcegna and the Mounts Formica and La Guardia ; the village of Pisogno, founded on the Mount Formica, is separated from Miasino by the torrent Agogna, whereas Carcegna is the natural extension towards the Lago d’Orta.

The small " region " of Tortirogno constitutes, finally, the harbour on the lake of the Town of Miasino.

Many buildings of 700 in baroque style, villas of 800 and several architectural heritages of great value (among these the Parish Church of San Rocco and Villa Nigra), testify the old splendours of this Town that during its long history had exceptional visitors and vacationers as well as famous citizens.

Among the most famous, the painters Giuseppe Zanatta (1635-1720) and Giovan Battista Cantalupi (1732-1780), The Priest Architect Giovanni Antonio Martelli and the writers Onorio Guidetti and Matteo Alesina (XVII century).

And nowadays the Town was honoured by the rowing world champion Stefano Basalini.

The Town of Miasino is an ideal place for splendid walks in its historic streets (admiring the ancient portals, among the most beautiful of the Cusio) and for relaxing excursions in contact with the nature. Once and for all, a place to visit !
